Today I take a look at the X99A Gaming Pro Carbon from MSI and take it through its paces for a full comprehensive review. Ultimately this motherboard delivers on every front and I couldn’t fault it on anything really. It is great to see that MSI have also improved their MIC in port greatly and the implementation of their RGBs is sure to please even the most careful of cosmetic builders.
The VRM is also very solid with solid low power draw and stable overclocks, temps didn’t exceed 48 degrees on a quite aggressive overclock on my 6800k.

the best x99 motherboard
I have this mb with 2 titan x pascal.
i had a question can i use a intel 7th generation i7-7700k processor on this motherboard any one please reply
Would you say that any i7 6800K can achieve at least a 4.4 GHz overclock in terms of hardware lottery? I consider an upgrade to X99 and this MSI Gaming Pro Carbon combined with an i7 6800K would be a decent choice for an acceptable price.
DragonEye…oh god a stream sniper dream.
seems quite complicated in terms of OC
I've got the same board and cpu 6800k but am having a hard time over clocking to a modest 4.2ghz. what settings did you use for your over clock? thanks!
did you plug the internet cable or add a m.2 wifi card?
Which CPU cooling block is that?
Solid review, not too long, good balance of OC info and general content – subbed 🙂
Asus Maximus VIII Formula here. 6700k. Happy as fuck. Destroys everything. Though only thing id like is 2 more cores and threads and more importantly more pcie lanes. The amount of lanes the 6700k has is just not great.
I'm happy with my 170A Asus!
You know you're a retro gamer if you felt a special tingle inside when you heard "RGB out" at 2:55
that is my next motherboard! Was looking into Asus but they have a lot of problems on the x99 platform.
Has anybody run SLI on this board. The problem I see is that if dual-SLI is supported only for PCIE-1 and PCIE-3 slots. These slots are on only one slot apart. That means if you are running two air-cooled GPUs (say MSI GTX 1080), then the cards will have to stack right next to each other, and that can't be good for cooling. Most systems, like ASUS and make sure there is one extra space between the SLI pair (slots 1 and 4 or 2 and 5). Also, even MSI's SLI Bridge is spec'ed for this. So what gives? I like this M/B because of the steel reinforcements on the PCIE slots, but they put the slots too close.
I am a RGB fanboy, and i want this thing right nowww. however it costs more then i can afford for a mobo
Asus Maximus 8 Alpha its cool but i dont plug any RGB into it lol
i got this board because the asus x99 a 2 died and asus sucks they refused to replace it so i got a refund from amazon. This board rocks only thing i don't like is there is like 5 apps instead of a all in one app like asus ai suite. other then that i recommend this board it's great
holy crap.
Dope indeed.
Bryan what would the point of having two NICs?
IDK this board seems over priced for just fancy lights, I can spend about $250 USD for an Asus X99-A II motherboard, or under $200 USD for the original Asus X99-A (w/ bios update) and be quite happy.
Actually i'd love to see a video that pits the Asus X99-A with the Asus X99-A II (on a i7-6800 with the same RAM) to see if there's any significant performance differences, if at all.
Dear god, the amount of IO on this board…
Sweet board!

I am helping with a friend RBG DJ rig I was looking at Ausu but now i may have to change my thoughts on the MSI. The idea is that we are going to make the RBG strip around his table be controlled by the motherboard. I would love peoples thoughts on this build it is a bit odd i admit but the is is a performers rig not gaming or editing and the main DJ program can almost be ran by an I phone.
The storage is need and the cooling is way over kill but i chose it for the look in the rig and the fact the fans match. Also the vid card was chosen because it has to be a triple monitor set up with 2 projecting 4k video feed
hi , nice video i love it bro 🙂 but i have a challenge for you 😉 can you watertcool a budget gpu with overcloking like gt 610 and compare it with gtx 6** or gtx 7** .thx 😉
I never really cared about RGB… I just want a rig to be fast and reliable. I am still running a P67 mobo with an i7 2600k OC to 4.2 Mhz… Running everything very high and VR. I still don't see the need to upgrade as the synthetic benchmarks don't prove it to be necessary, even when compared to a 6700k. In games, the difference is negligible, making the GPU the biggest bottle neck. When the time comes to upgrade, I'll focus in performance and OC capability, not the looks. But I understand that some people like to show their rigs off.
How many SATA ports it has? Even on their site has no information of this most needed spec… I counted them 8 from your closeups but still may have missed some.
ok cool keep up the new vids
Dude I think you need to go shorter on your hair at the sides, than is is on the top. it looks like you have no hair up top :/
ASUS Rampge 5 Extreme 10th Edition > MSI (Carbon) GODLIKE Gaming
ASUS Strix Motherboard > MSI Carbon Gaming Pro
LED strip rape..
xD
this.
was.
AWESOME!!
RGB FOR LYFE MY KIDS WILL BE WEARING RGB TO SCHOOL LOL
I don't have RGB and i don't really need it. Have an Sabertooth 990FX.
RGB just dumps the price in the sky, and reinforced RAM-Slots? Really? PCI-E, okay, but RAM? If I am a little kid that don't know about Hardware, this will help, but normal people? You can't even see it, if Ram is installed…
Oh no not WTFast…
Amazing as always
300$$$$ for a mobo?!?!?!? are you crazy !?!?!?
i consider 150$+ spend for the mobo is overprice
and 90-110 is just right
